Out of Iraq Comes Hope

The Chaldean Church in Iraq is often overlooked in the media, despite the awful persecutions it has endured since the beginning of the war. It is, however, a sign of hope to see that the Eastern priests are meeting and discussing theological issues and affirming the simple truth that,“the Chaldean Church is a persecuted Church, whose strength lies in the power of its faith and its spirit. This is how it conserves its prophetic freedom and its hope.”

Check out the AsiaNews site for info on the meeting of priests, I also recommend listening to Catholic Answers Live interview with Bishop Sarhad of the Chaldean Church in America here.

May St. Maron and St. Peter pray for the peace in Iraq.
